The Board of Governors of the Western Hockey League has resolved to consider and study issues related to future expansion of the league. The Boardwill be examining all aspects of prospective expansion including such matters relating to location, timing and entry fees.
Commissioner Dev Dley stated "There has been substancial interest from parties seeking new franchises. In response to issues raised, a report will be formulated to deal with all practicalities of all possible expansion."
The Western Hockey League presently consists of eighteen franchises across Western Canada and the Northwestern United States.
It is expected that the Board of Governors will be convening in January to consider the matter further.
