1 March 2001 - Wedding Bells Are Ringing

After finding out that Mel has slept with Phil, Steve is devastated. As their wedding day arrives Steve looks sadly through the window of his flat. Beppe arrives and is concerned by Steve's strange behaviour. He asks him what the matter is and Steve tells him that Mel has slept with somebody else but doesn't reveal the man's identity. Beppe goes on to ask him what he is going to do about it and Steve tells him that he doesn't know what to do yet.

Later in the morning, Steve goes around to E20 and finds Billy on the phone to his mum. He asks him what she wanted and Billy tells him that she wanted to know where the wedding was taking place. Steve is mad. As Billy leaves the room, Steve sits down at his desk, opens the drawer and sees the gun. A few minutes later Beppe enters the office. Steve tells Beppe that he knows exactly what to do about Phil and Mel.

When they arrive at the registry office, Steve isn't very happy to see his mum turn up. They have a brief arguement and Steve tells her that she can only stay if she is happy for him. A few minutes later, Phil shows up and begins to talk to Steve's mum. Steve looks angry. When Mel finally arrives, Steve introduces her to his mum but his mum doesn't seem impressed. Mel and Lisa are horrified to see that Phil has shown up.

As the wedding ceremony begins Mel is worried that Steve seems distant. She asks him if everything is alright and he tells her that they will talk about it later. The ceremony runs smoothly. When they are finally pronounced as man and wife Steve moves closer to kiss his new wife. But as he does he whispers in her ear that he knows about Phil. Mel is shocked and looks over at Phil.

Once the wedding pictures have been taken, everybody returns to Albert Square for the reception at E20. As the reception goes on, Steve finds out that a leaky tap has flooded the gents toilets. He tells everyone to grab some food and make their way over to the Vic. When they have cut the cake and made speeches, Steve announces that it is time for him and Mel to leave for their honeymoon. Before they leave, Steve's mum stops him and tells him that he should talk to Phil about Mel. She also tells him that she thinks Mel is cheap. Steve is furious as he leaves the Vic and joins Mel in the taxi. They drive off into the night but as they pass E20 Steve asks the driver to stop so that he can check on the leak. Mel sits alone in the back of the taxi as she waits for Steve to return.

20 February 2001 - Wedding Preparations

Mel asks Steve why he hasn't invited his mum to their wedding. Steve tells her that he doesn't have a very good relationship with his mum and neither does Jackie. He also tells her that his best man has dropped out and he has to find a new one.

Later in the day, Steve sees Beppe in the Vic and asks him to be his best man. Beppe asks him how far down the list he was and Steve tells him that he was his first choice. Beppe seems touched and agrees to be his best man.

21 December 2000 - Brawl at the Queen Vic

Mel tells Steve that Phil will be going to South Africa for Christmas. He immediately sees his chance to try and convince Beppe to sell him his share in E20. He calls him up and arranges to meet him at E20 later on.

Later in the day, Steve waits for Beppe at E20 but he doesn't show up. He makes his way over to the Vic and finds Beppe and Phil finalising their plans. He is furious and immediately guesses that Mel must have told Phil of his plans. He shouts at Mel but Phil tells him to leave her alone and punches him. Steve retaliates and their brawl ends up out in the Square. Steve is knocked to the floor, battered and bloody. As he gets back up he vows revenge and walks off into the night.

8 August 2000 - Pole dancers at E20?

Steve is approached by Terry, who has an idea for the club. He suggests that Steve should have pole dancers in the club. Steve looks amused and tells Terry to come up with a business plan. After Terry has left, Beppe is annoyed at Steve for not talking to him about it. Steve tells him that he is not really interested and that he was just humouring Terry.

Later in the day, Steve bumps into Phil. He tells him that he'd like to manage the snooker hall and promises that he will double the business. Phil is unsure and tells him that he will have to think about it.

1 August 2000 - The slap heard around the World!

Steve asks Mel to meet him at E20 after work. Mel tells Steve that she doesn't want to know him until he tells her how he got Ian to agree to the divorce.

During the day, Mel serves Ian and continues to put him down until he shocks her by telling her how he agreed to the divorce. Mel, angry and shocked, goes straight round to E20 and confronts Steve. She slaps him and refuses to marry him.

24 July 2000 - Melanie gets even more suspicious!!

Melanie is still unsure about Steve's excuse especially when she sees Steve talking to Ian in the Vic.

20 July 2000 - Melanie gets suspicious

Steve gave Melanie a card for a bridal boutique so that she can find a dress for their wedding. Melanie was shocked by his pushy behaviour.

Later, at the club, Melanie asked Steve how he got Ian to agree to the divorce. Steve told her that he had promised Ian a favour, if he ever needed one. Melanie was unsure. Steve quickly assured her he was telling the truth by saying "who are you going to believe? Him or me?".

26 June 2000 - What's to come this week

Steve returns back to the E20 fighting fit and intenton seeking out Billy for revenge of the recent Beppe drug scare.

19 June 2000 - Steve almost gets caught!

Since february, Steve has gone down hill in a big way! He is now so dependent on 'speed' that he has even got his business partner Beppe in trouble. Beppe was on a big date with Melanie about four weeks ago - he suddenly felt quite ill and told Melanie that their night out would have to end prematurely.

He goes back to E20 and into the office where he searches around for some headache tablets. Reaches into the desk and finds a box of pills marked 'paracetamol'. Takes one, then two, and then hesitantly takes three (must have been a real stonker of a headache!). Almost immediately he falls to the floor gasping for air and holding his left arm.

Billy (Steve's supplier and doorman) enters the room and on seeing Beppe floundering on the floor he quickly reaches into the drawer, grabs the pills and runs off - he stops in the square and calls for an ambulance to go to E20.

Meanwhile, Joe and mum return to E20 looking for Beppe - Joe runs to the office and finds Beppe on the floor, Joe runs back and gets his mum who then calls an ambulance. All the time Steve is acting like the good citizen and worried friend, taking care of Joe and attending the hospital.

Later in hospital Beppe learns the awful truth that it was in fact 'speed' that he took, not paracetamol, he puts two and two together and works out that they must have belonged to Steve as he was the only other person that used the office.

Unfortunately he lets the cat of the bag to Rosa who immediately confronts Steve about the drugs. Just when you think the game is up, he comes out with a slick and believable lie that it must have been Billy's drugs that Beppe took - "where's Billy now - he's run off?", Steve says to Rosa.

15 February - New doorman for E20

Steve starts interviewing people for the doorman job. Billy Mitchell turns up 45 minutes late for his interview and Steve, who has no idea who he is, reluctantly gives him an interview on the spot. Steve isn't very keen to give him the job. As Billy leaves, Beppe walks into the club and tells Steve who Billy is. He also tells him that Phil would "go mental" if he knew he was back. Steve appears interested.

8 February - Beppe Gets Tough

Beppe opens up the club to find Steve passed out on the bar. He tells Steve to "sort himself out" as they have a business to run. Steve thinks for a moment and then calls a doctor to book an apppointment.
