THANKYOUS FOR BROKEN LIKE A STARFISH

I offer my endless and unwavering gratitude to....

My family:

Mom and Dad, for loud and quiet support, for the gifts of talent and confidence.

Maggie Ann and Matthew (Meeky), for imaginings, for being brilliant and strong.

Amy, for everything I can't begin to describe.

Wilson's guitar for putting in so many devoted hours of rehearsal in Aaron's hands....and to grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and everyone in between (esp. "my girls"). We are all so talented. Too bad none of us have jobs.

My musicians:

Aaron (S.), for being there for my music and for me "as often as humanly possible" (indeed.), for your mouth, and for always complaining better than I can. Oh, and to Aaron's best friend for saving a place for me between you.

Trent, for taking notes, for the music that's inside you, and for being probably the most modest and unpretentious musician I know (you're gonna have to work on that if you wanna be a rock star).

Aaron (A.), for your appreciation of my use of profanity, for your pronounciation of the word funky, and for taking my songs to a place where they lay delightful and lazy in my ears.

Kyle, for comic indifference even as it drives me demented, for learning songs quickly, and for the band perspective.

Neil, for the place I know I was meant to record this album, a studio and a home with smashingly comfortable vibes, for Ready, Set, Go! and for not quite believing me when I said I could do better.

Dopey and the Emporer, for a studio tradition.

Fans like Ryan and Aylwin, places to play like Cafe Casa and Cafe Browse, and organizations like SOMA and Ness Creek for blatantly obvious reasons.

The Students and Staff of Aden Bowman Collegiate Institute for previous and continuing support.

Gummie Chicks and There's A Rabbit On That Blanket for the beginnings.

The Musicians That Inspire Me:

Smashing Pumpkins, for solace, fear, and obsession.

the drowned, for strong and delicious friendship, dancing music, words that ache, for reshaping letters, and for parts of you I never thought I'd see.

Wide Mouth Mason, for being rock stars without making me feel like a groupie, for teaching me to expect more from the music in my life, and for making all those appearances in my subconscious mind.

and to bent, Five Minute Miracle, Tomko Lamb, and all the other truly spectacular artists who have been my friends.

Chris Martin, for putting the idea for this album in my head, for best friendship, constant encouragement, for yellow socks, and for showing me different sides of my songs and myself.

Radar, for listening to the broken starfish bedtime stories before they grow into themselves with the new day.

And finally, but importantly, Angela, Rob, Joshua, Tomko, Jay, Jennifer, Mandie, Chris, the ex-boyfriends, and Aaron for lending pieces of themselves to the stories in these songs.
