NEW CLOUD CITY SCENES
A new addition to the Empire Strikes Back Special Edition
are the various new scenes in Cloud City. Before, in the
original Trilogy, the city scenes (as well as scenes of Mos-Eisly
space port) were small, confined, and limited. The new
technology gives Lucas a chance to expand the vast cities
he had imagined when he first created it.
New scenes were added into the movie on several occasions. One
part was when Lando took the intercom and advised the city to
evactuate before more Imperial troops arrive. Instead of only
speaking on the inside of the city, he also spoke in open ares.
And, throughout the Cloud City Sequence, several scenes were
modified so that instead of walls on the inside, they were windows
showing the vast city that lay below.
