Chapter 8
They seemed to have been walking for hours. Ann
was getting sore and tired, and she hadn't recovered all the strenght she lost
while healing Morning Star. They kept walking through the dense woods and
Ann started to get very weak. She collpsed next to the the small blue
stream and Damon rushed to her side. "I'm sorry, I'm just so
weak." she barely got out.
Ann gasped as she looked up the small stream.
Standing there, in the cool blue water, was the silvery outline of the
unicorn. She tried to get up, but was still very weak.
"Please! Wait!" Damon stamered and
stood up, but he fell back down into the water.
Slowly, the silver beauty slid back into the dense part
of the forest, leaving the trees sparkling.
Ann felt a sudden rush of energy as if the unicorn gave
her some of his. "We need to keep going." she said as she stood
up and started along the little stream. She knew some one was watching
them, but didn't say anything, fearing they were listening.
Time went by quickly as they walked. Damon stoped
and said,"I think I heard something." Isis' ears perked up and
he searched the area. He saw nothing.
"You're imagining things." Leigh sighed and
continued.
Then, two men came out from behind a tree and pushed Ann
to the ground and held her there. Damon drew his sword, but was quickly
knocked out by a third man. The men tied Ann to a tree. Isis roared
with all his might and pounced on the first man, breaking his leg. The
other men shot Isis in the front leg and tied him down.
Ann fell unconsious from hitting the tree when they tied
her up.
When she awoke, she saw Damon, Isis, and Leigh tied
down. Isis was in bad shape, and was bleeding pretty bad. There was
a huge cut on Damon's forhead where the man hit him.
"Where is it?" demanded a short, dirty
man.
"Where is what?" screamed Ann, starting to get
very angry.
"The sapphire! Idiotic girl! I want the
sapphire!" he yelled and smacked Ann across the face.
"I don't know what you're talking about fool!"
she screamed as she focused her energy. She looked him straight in the
eyes and he began to yell.
"My god! What's happening to me?"
but before he could say anything else, he fell to the ground in
pain.
