We had a fabulous day on Susan's Birthday, June 26th. Our Nature Walk around Medical Lake was great.

We brought my mother out to celebrate with us. About half way through we spotted two Mule Deer. They were drinking down by the shore. When they saw us, they disappeared, later appearing ahead of us on the path about 40 yards away. Unfortunately I was unable to get a photograph.

The other interesting thing was seeing baby turtles. (Now I grew up on Spokane's famed "south side," close to Manito Park. In the summer, I was always down there; or over at Cannon Hill Park. I saw lots of turtles, but never any babies.) Today, there were many turtles basking in the warmth of the sun, and suddenly, close to the shoreline, we spotted quite a few baby turtles. Again, I was unable to shoot my camera fast enough.

The City of Medical Lake has renovated the so called official City Park called Coney Island, and they really did a great job. As we neared the end of our walk, we showed the Park to my mother who was with us, and to our surprise, there were all the Geese and their goslings. I managed a couple of pictures, and as you look at these, you'll agree that the goslings are almost as big as their parents.
