"Beginning to Remember" Part #6

Angel always knew that this day would come. Sure, he’s fought to save Conner before. But, there hadn’t been any threats for a little while now. The arrival of Christian made Angel realize that this new threat was definitely the real deal.

Wesley and Cordelia made there way back to the front room, and joined Angel, Conner, and Christian. Angel filled filled them in. He told them that there was a danger brewing and I would be here shortly. Cordelia had to sit down. Wesley continued to stand, but needed some information, “Ok, right! So, this danger that is on its way, what should we, how should we, I mean…”

Christian turned toward Wesley and commented, “I have had my eye on you Wesley, for quite some time now.” Wesley stepped back in shock and a puzzled look surrounded his face.

Christian realized and quickly said, “Oh, there is no need to be frightened. I’ve kept track of your life and have been in amazement. You put others before yourself. The strength that you embody, makes me and others around me, understand why he has chosen you.”

Wesley didn’t understand what Christian was speaking of. He went to ask Christian to explain, but Christian continued speaking, “There is no need to worry Sir Wesley, we will have time to discourse about that at a later time.”

Cordelia whispered to Angel, “did he say Sir Wesley?” Angel looked at Cordelia, smiled and nodded his head.

“Angel!” Christian beckoned for. “I know that I haven’t gotten into the details of the threat that lies before us, but I am waiting on the person, who will help us defeat this dreadful force.”

“What do you mean? Who will be help us, Cordelia asks?”

“Buffy,” Angel bellows out!

“Buffy,” Cordelia remarks and continues, “How will she help us, she’s not even her…”

“I don’t believe it,” Angel says. “You’re here. Who told you to come.”

“Wow Angel,” Buffy responds. “Thanks for that warm welcome.”

A little startled by Buffy’s statement, responded, “C’mon Buffy, you know what I meant. I mean we didn’t exactly leave on the best of terms, the last time we met.”

“Well, what to you expect,” Buffy sharply responded. “You weren’t exactly Mr. Understanding, when I told you about my death and resurrection.”

A aggravated Angel interjects, “What do you expect Buffy, you told me that you were brought back from the dead, in an unnatural way. By a spell, By you Willow,” Angel’s stone cold stare leaves Buffy and moves to a stunned Willow.

“Don’t look at her like that,” Buffy yells, as a disgruntled look crosses her face. “I told you that she brought me back because she thought that I was in hell, and she didn’t want me to suffer.”

“That’s not the point Buffy,” Angel says emphatically. “She was careless, and she didn’t let anyone know what she was doing. Buffy, she didn’t even tell Giles.”

Giles walks down the stairs and over to where Wesley was standing and says, “I felt the same way Angel. I thought it was an idiotic thing to do. I told her that. She didn’t understand at first, but, eventually she did. The important thing is, that Buffy was and is back, and better.”

“You’re right,” Wesley agrees. “Maybe we should be happy that Buffy is alive and her to help. From the information that Christian has given us, I think its best that they’ve come to help.”

“Yeah, it’s always a good thing when Buffy comes to help,” Cordelia sarcastically says.

“Well, one thing has remained the same,” Xander blurts out as he walks in the front door, carrying every bag imaginable.

Angel turns and walks into Wesley’s office while shaking his head. Before he enters the office he says, “that’s great, bring all your buddies along. We’ll have a party.”

Buffy storms after Angel while screaming out, “Why are you like this. I thought you’d be happy to have our help. But, I can see that it was a mistake. You haven’t changed one bit. You’re still that same, secretty, broody vampire.”

Cordelia insulted by the comments which Buffy just made chimes in, “That’s where you’re wrong Buffy. If you would have taken the time to see where Angel was coming from, then you would’ve realized that he was just worried about you, because he loves you.”

Buffy looks at Cordelia and responds, “Wow, Cordelia, you sure know a lot about the situation.” Buffy, turns back to Angel and proceeds, “I thought that our meeting three years ago was going to be kept between us.”

“Angel didn’t tell me a damn thing,” Codrelia interrupts angrily. “It’s just common sense.”

“Oh, yeah right, you and common sense, it‘s not really a match,” remarks a sarcastic Buffy.

Angel comes out from Wesley’s office rapidly and right up to Buffy, “That’s where I draw the line Buffy. You don’t have the right to insult her like that. She’s done nothing but be completely honest. You didn’t take the time to understand why I was so upset with you. You know everything isn’t a conspiracy Buffy. I didn’t like the idea of you being brought back like that. Why can’t you understand that?”

Buffy starts to talk, but she is interrupted by Conner, who finally decides to join the discussion.

“Dad,” right then Buffy’s mouth dropped. “Dad, I’ve heard you talk about this woman whom you love so deeply. There was nothing but wonderful memories of the times that you spent together. Well, except for one. You know the time she killed you and sent you to hell.”

Wesley chimes in, “get to the point Conner.”

“Alright, sir Wesley,” Conner responds sarcastically. “My point is, what does it matter. The past is in the past. You both are here now. Dad, she’s come to help you, help me. Can’t you see that?”

Giles in awe of Conner’s maturity says, “Angel, you’ve raised a intelligent young man.”

Buffy was still in shock. There was Angel’s son. The child that she always imagined would be hers and Angel‘s. He was standing in front of her. She finally gathered herself and said, “My god Angel, he’s, he’s…”

Angel grabs Buffy, and pulls her close and says, “He’s My son, His name is Conner.”

“That’s all well and good people, but can somebody please help me with these bags,” Xander pleads.
