Finally, Giles, Xander, and Willow arrived back at Buffy’s house. Buffy looks straight at Giles as soon as he walked in the door. Buffy didn’t want anyone to know about what Giles and herself had talked about. Giles responded with a slight nod. Right then, she realized that everything was in place and they were ready to go. Buffy walked over to Dawn, hugged her, told her that she loved her, and then walked out of the house.
As they packed into the van that Oz so graciously lent them, Xander commented, “Um guys, do we have any idea what we are in store for when we get to L.A.?”
Giles turned the key and started the car and said, “It’s probably something that we all have seen and dealt with before.”
A silence encompasses the passengers in the van for a few seconds and then they all collectively laugh. Xander gathers himself in order to make this statement, “Oh yeah, like that ever happens. Yeah this should be a piece of cake!”
After that comment, Buffy, Giles, Willow, and Xander, begin their journey to L.A.
Meanwhile, back in L.A. Angel has been training extensively. He wants to be in tip top shape foe whatever comes his way. Angel’s son Conner and Cordelia are upstairs talking when Wesley bursts in with some news.
“They are coming. They are coming,” a frenzied and flustered Wesley yells out.
“Who’s coming, Wesley,” Cordelia asks while jumping out of her chair?
Wesley completely terrified by the news that he’s just received, drops his head and gathers the courage to let Conner and Cordelia in on the news, “I’ve heard from a source that some demon from another time period has been given the task of capturing you Conner.”
Conner smiles as if he isn’t at all worried about this demon coming. He sits back down and says, “Oh please Wesley! We’ve faced more than just one demon trying to capture me before. Your’re such a baby Wesley…”
Before Conner could finish insulting Wesley, Angel walks into the lobby area of the hotel
and interrupts his son, “don’t be so arrogant son. You’ve never had to deal with a demon from the outside realm. Just listen to what Wesley has to say. After he’s finished, and you still aren’t worried, then you can laugh.”
With a blank look on his face, Wesley looks at Angel, who is slightly laughing with his son. Angel turns to Wesley and says, “I’m only joking Wesley. I know that we are in constant danger, and Conner knows this as well. I’ m just trying to calm everyone down so that we can be focused for whatever comes our way.”
Cordelia finally interjects, “Well, if you are so interested in getting everyone focused, why don’t we listen to what Wesley has to say!”
A smile comes across Wesley’s face and he begins, “The demon that has been chosen to capture Conner is completely different than what we’ve witnessed in the past.”
“How different,” asks Angel?
Wesley quickly responds to Angel’s question, “Let’s just say that it isn’t without brilliant supernatural powers. Nobody knows exactly what kind of demon that it is, or where it will be coming from. All they know is, it has been called upon. And it will be here shortly.”
Conner, still not worried about the demon, remarks, “Like I said before, we’ve dealt with this type of threat before. There’s nothing to be worried about. God, I’m surrounded by sissies.”
Wesley becomes enraged with the lack of respect that Conner has shown towards him and lashes out, “Conner, you have no idea of the threats that we’ve face in our lifetime. You should shut your damn mouth and start getting serious. It’s your life that is in danger. It’s your life that we’ve vowed to protect. If you don’t need us any longer than just say the word and we’ll gladly let you deal with this unworthy threat on your life, on your own.”
Before anyone could comment, a voice from the front door of the hotel screams out, “No! You all have got to stick together. This threat is more dangerous than anything that has been allocated to you before.”
Angel, Cordelia, Wesley, and Conner, turn and look to the person who stood before them. Finally, Angel recognizes who it is and blurts out, “CHRISTIAN!”
