INTRODUCTION
ledgering & feeder fishing both share the same type of techniques and may require different types of rods,it depends on the way you intend to ledger/feeder fish, and the way you want to indicate the bites.

Because there is generally no float on a ledger / feeder rig bites are detected either by touch (holding
the line over a finger or lightly between the finger &
thumb so that the tiniest of bites/tugs on the line can be felt)or by using a bite indicator, the simpiest
indicator is the rod tip its self (built in quivertip)
other methods include swingtips & springtip that are
screwed into a threaded tip ring which show taps that
might overwise have been missed on just a rods tip,and
there's also things called bobbins which are clipped onto the line between the reel and first rod ring will
alpw a certain amount of slack line to be taken before
the strike is made and some monkey climbers used in conjunction with bite alarms that sound when line is
taken to indicate the bite
QUIVER TIP RODS
Quiver tip rods are general feeder/ledger bomb rods with a built in indicating quiver tip either fixed or push in tips that give different sensativity of bites according to their test curve ratings usualy 2oz(soft tip) to 4oz (heavy tip)and to counteract against river current , they come in a veriety of vibrant colours that are easy to see in low/strong light conditions to aid the angler to see the bite indications.
AVON RODS
Avon Style Rods look like float fishing rods and don't have a built in indicator but instead has a threaded tip ring so a quiver or swing tip can be used to give sensative bite indication or can be used without and a angler can lightly hold the line between reel and the first rod ring this is known as touch ledgering.
ledgering is fishing with just weight fixed to the line and is a versatile technique that allows the bait to be cast a long way and presented so as to anchor the bait onto , or close to the bottom of the lake or too just hold bottom against the current of a river (a) when a fish takes your bait it dislodges the weight (b) causing a reaction to travel up the line to the rod tip to indicate the bite (c).to attract the fish that feed there.although it lacks the finesse of float fishing , it does allow the bait to be presented effectively in situations where a float rig would be ineffective.ledgering generally involves using the minimum practicable amount of weight in a given set of circumstances in order to achieve a more critical balance.
LEDGER WEIGHTS
Ledger weights come in verious types and forms from the humble split shot to special flat leads
SWIM FEEDERS
swim feeders come in verious types and forms from open ended groundbait feeders and cage feeders through to blockend feeders and inline feeders & method feeders
