Warriors Fall To Paraclete On The Road

Posted by The Tehachapi News, on September 23, 2017.

It would have been a daunting task to ask Mountain Football to pull out a victory against defending CIF Division 3-AA State Champion and current no.26 state-ranked Paraclete Friday night on the road.

As it turned out, the Spirits proved they were more than worthy of their state ranking with a 63-7 victory.

Brevin White led the Paraclete (4-1) passing attack with six touchdown passes, with four of them going to wideout Andre Hunt. Both players are four-star rated athletes by scout.com, with White (Princeton) and Hunt (University of Southern California) highly-touted verbal commits to Division I programs.

Tehachapi (1-3) was led on offense by Connor Timm, who broke loose for a 68-yard run in the second quarter, outsprinting the Spirit secondary for a touchdown. Timm finished the night with 95 yards on 12 carries and a catch for 15 yards.

In other offensive highlights, Justin Walters had a reception for 13 yards and quarterback Luke Soto had two completions for 28 yards.

Defensively, Patrick Grimes and Dominic Counihan led the Warriors with seven tackles apiece, followed by Dylan Ragsdale, Hayden Palmer, Rory Bishop and Elijah Barlow with six tackles each.

Peyton Stowers, Favian Garcia and Timm all had five tackles, while Soto had two sacks and Sean Schuglen and Palmer each had a sack.

On special teams, Tehachapi had 149 yards on kickoff returns, with Tanner Love recording 76 yards on four returns and Trevor Medovitch 73 yards on five returns. Medovitch also tacked on the PAT after Timm’s second quarter score.

The Warriors will look to bounce back in their final non-league game of the season at North this Friday night. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. in Bakersfield.
