Tehachapi 75, Shafter 42
TEHACHAPI -- Tehachapi rode 508 team rushing yards to a 75-42 win over Shafter Friday night.
Gabe Bressler and Josh Strauss anchored the Warriors' ground attack with 197 and 187 yards rushing respectively. Six different players scored touchdowns for Tehachapi, with only one coming through the air.
Shafter quarterback Mickey Polley had a standout game going 27-for-46 in the air for 306 yards and five touchdowns.
Bressler had four touchdowns for the Warriors, including a 45 yard scamper early in the first quarter that staked Tehachapi to the early lead, and a 50-yard jaunt late in the fourth quarter.
(Webmaster Note: The 75 points scored establishes a new Warrior record for the most points scored in a single game. The old record was set in 1957 when the Warriors defeated Mojave, 74-6. The combined score of 117 total points is also a new record, shattering the old record of 80 points, 61-19 over Ridgeview in 1996, and 74-6 over Mojave in 1957.)
Mickey Polley proved why he is one of the best players in the SSL, torching the Tehachapi secondary for over 300 yards passing and five touchdowns. Despite the effort, Tehachapi was able to match and out score the Shafter threat in a 75-point explosion.
