Warriors 2nd In Desert League

In head coach Matthews only season in Tehachapi, the 1934 Warriors finished with a final season record of 3-8-1.
However, in their second year in the Desert League, the Warriors did very well finishing in 2nd place with a 2-2 record.

Playing under the lights, a highlight for the Warriors during the 1934 season was a
shocking 6-0 victory over the Taft Lightweights on September 28 on the Oilers' home field.
According to the Bakersfield Californian, the game was witnessed by more than 3,000 fans under the lights.
This was a boomtown era (because of oil) in the Taft-Maricopa area and spectator sports were very popular!
Taft was ready when Tehachapi returned on October 27 for another game, this time the Taft JV's (Bobcats) clobbered Tehachapi, 27-0.
