Bakersfield Christian came alive in the second quarter to score three-straight touchdowns to spoil the season home opener
for Mountain Football on Friday.
Despite the loss, Carter Colesar shined on special teams for Tehachapi with two field goals of 25 and 42 yards and also recorded
a kickoff for a touchback.
The Warrior ground game was efficient on the evening with 240 yards rushing overall. Leading the way with Adrian Pina
with 95 yards, followed by Colton Michael with 73 yards and Mason Rothermel, Roland Pina and Kaidon Hagerty
all combining for 72 yards rushing. Andrew Aguirre also had a 25-yard reception in the first half.
Defensively, Liddon Scott had seven tackles, followed by Tylere Lombardi, Anthony Cerbantes and Mason Rothermel with
four tackles each. Leo Gonzalez, Kolesar, Aguirre had three tackles each, with Gonzalez also recording five
quarterback hurries. Adrian Pina also had an interception on the Eagles first drive of the game.
The Warriors will look to bounce back from the loss with another home game next week against Taft. Due to Kern County
official shortages, the game against the Wildcats will be on Thursday this week at Coy Burnett Stadium
with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
Junior varsity
The Warriors fell to Bakersfield Christian in a hard-fought 34-22 loss at home.
Austin Rolow had three touchdown runs of 14, 10 and three yards to lead the offense. In other scoring, Jackson Robinson was
credited with a tackle in the endzone for a safety and Ivan Madueno had two successful point after attempts.
Tehachapi junior varsity will have another home contest this Thursday afternoon against Taft. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m.
Andre Calderon hauled in two touchdown receptions of 32 and 30 yards from Lincoln Adame to help fuel the Eagles' (1-1) win over the Warriors (1-1).
Adame was 16 of 23 passing for 203 yards. Jake Steele and Talen Mather also had scoring runs and combined for 80 yards rushing.
Defensively, David Aguirre had seven tackles and senior Avery Jaramillo added five.
BCHS intercepted three Warrior passes.
For Tehachapi, Carter Colesar connected on field goals of 42 and 25 yards to account for the only scoring. The Warriors had 240 yards
rushing in the game. Adrian Pina led the way with 95 yards on 12 carries and
quarterback Colton Michael had 73 yards on 14 carries.
