Warriors Pull Away Early On Homecoming, 41-13

Four consecutive drives to start the game in the first quarter led to four straight touchdowns, helping Tehachapi cruise to a 41-13 homecoming win at Coy Burnett Field last Friday night.

Jorge Garcia scored on runs of 5, 8 and 46 yards on the evening, closing out the game in the first half with 99 yards on the ground.

Tehachapi recorded their final touchdown of the night with just 24 seconds remaining in the second quarter when Caleab Hutto scored on an 18 yard run. Both Caleab and Isaiah Hutto collected most of the second half carries to finish with a combined 49 yards rushing.

Other offensive leaders included Skylar Valencia scoring a 58 yard touchdown reception on a pass from Bobby Howell, and Barry Jones recording 62 yards rushing on just six carries and a touchdown run. Howell finished with 73 yards, registering another completion on a 15 yard pass to Ryan Flick.

The Warriors defense overwhelmed North throughout the night, giving up a lone touchdown with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Stars could only manage 145 yards of total offense by game’s end. Kiefer Fincher had a fumble recovery and Ty Curry a punt block in first half highlights.

North’s other touchdown came off a kickoff return.

On special teams, Jeremy Duff had five extra point attempts and 232 yards on six kickoffs, and Valencia had a 45 yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter.

Mountain Football will be at Foothill this Friday night starting at 7 p.m. The Friday night game will be the only contest of the evening, with the jayvee and freshmen set to play this Thursday in Bakersfield.

Warriors Cruise To Win Over Stars

TEHACHAPI -- The Warriors broke away from North with four first quarter touchdowns, easily breezing to an eventual 41-13 homecoming win on the mountain.

Jorge Garcia had four scores in the first half, rushing for 104 yards on eight carries to help pace the Tehachapi (7-1; 3-0 SEYL) running attack.

Bobby Howell had two completions for 73 yards, connecting with Skylar Valencia on a 58 yard touchdown for the Warriors’ third score.

On defense for the Warriors, Kiefer Fincher had a fumble recovery and Ty Curry had a punt block.

For North (0-8; 0-3 SEYL), Eric Tarrazas had a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown at the end of the first quarter. David Reyes led the Stars running game with 116 yards.
