THS Holds Spring Drills For New Season

Posted June 1, 2013 by Tom Shea, The Tehachapi News

Mountain Football recently signaled in the new year with spring football this past month, working on reps and conditioning for the upcoming fall season.

Tehachapi had nearly 60 athletes in attendance for drills over the past couple of weeks, many of whom were returning players from last season's varsity, jayvee and freshmen squads.

"We have a good group this year, good leadership," said head coach Steve Denman. "This is just the beginning. There is still a lot of work to do, but we're heading in the right direction."

The Warriors will return nearly all of their underclassmen players that played on varsity last season, including first team all-league athletes Joseph Blewett (Offensive Line), Dakota Medovitch (wideout/punter), Ty Curry (Linebacker), Angel Garcia (Linebacker, Defensive Line) and Steven Cross (Defensive Back).

The Warriors finished last season with an 8-3 (4-1 SEYL) record, reaching the playoffs for the 16th consecutive year.

The 2013 schedule will be nearly identical to last season, with pre-season games scheduled against Exeter, Burroughs, Liberty, Arvin and West, and a league games against East, Highland, Foothill, North and Garces. For a full schedule, please visit thswarriors.com.
