West-Tehachapi Game LIVE Friday Night
Great news for Warrior fans in that the West High - Tehachapi football game Friday night will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN 1230 AM Bakersfield radio. The ESPN 1230 Game-of-the Week will be played in Tehachapi at historic Coy Burnett Field. Bring your radio to the game to enjoy the play-by-play of announcer, and former THS alum, Corey Costelloe. Game time is 7:00 pm.
After a successful multiple-decade-long run on sister station KERN Newstalk 1180, the High School Football Game of the Week has moved to 1230 ESPN beginning with the 2010 season. The Garces - Tehachapi game was aired earlier in the season as well.
“We had a great opportunity to move these community-favorite broadcasts over to a local sports station and it was something we couldn’t pass up,” said Costelloe, play-by-play voice and Program Director at 1230 ESPN. “KERN has been great over the years but the possibility of what we can do with these games on a sports format is tremendous.”
Costelloe returns to the broadcast booth for his 8th season calling the ‘Game of the Week.’ He’ll be joined by Michael Hopper returning for his second season providing color commentary.
Tune in to the ESPN 1230 pre-game coverage as fans will hear interviews, previews, predictions and updates from the all over the valley.
