Warriors versus Kern Valley (Lake Isabella)

Kern Valley High School is located in Lake Isabella, California, and is one of the most comprehensive high schools in the Kern High School District.
The school has a student population of nearly 700 students (2009-10).

Originally, Kernville High School opened its doors to 20 students in 1941. In 1951, when the Lake Isabella Dam was constructed and the resulting reservoir
would have covered the school, the school was moved to the town of Lake Isabella and renamed Kern Valley High School.

The Kern Valley Broncos won their first Desert-Inyo League championship in 1978.
In 1978, the Warriors played the champion Broncos to a 7-7 tie. The year before (1977),
the Broncos defeated Tehachapi for the first time in 18 games. For many years, the Broncos
were the perennial doormat of the DIL, but the teams of the late 1970's reversed that trend.
