Garces defeated Tehachapi 34-10 in the 50th meeting between the two schools. The playoff loss
ends the season for the Warriors, who finish at 6-5 overall. Michael set several new school
records completing 95 passes for the season, eclipsing the previous record of 91 set by
Eric Oberg in 1981. Michael also threw for 1,577 yards, surpassing Jacob Root who threw

Michael Sets New School Passing Records
Tehachapi and Garces Memorial squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Tehachapi had
to settle for second. They lost 34-10 to the Rams. While losing is never fun,
the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California
football rankings (they are ranked 496th, while the Rams are ranked 203rd).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best
among those players was Thaddeus Dyer, who picked up 97 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Dyer also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total, tackles and defending one pass.
Garces Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up
, but Mark Gomez led the charge by throwing for 317 yards and five TDs
while completing 81.5% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave Gomez a new career-high.
Colby Dilly helped Gomez out on the ground, picking up 125 receiving yards and a pair
of scores, while also rushing for 32 yards.
Tehachapi's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.
As for Garces Memorial, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games
and leaves them with a 7-4 record.
