Offenses put on an impressive show for Tehachapi and Exeter last Friday night, with both teams combining for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns. By game’s end, the Warriors eventually pulled away with a 55-35 victory.

Each team traded blows in the first half, with the Warriors striking in the first quarter with two touchdown runs by Skylar Valencia of 84 and 71 yards and Bobby Howell connecting with Dalton Scaggs for a passing strike of 76 yards.

In the second quarter, the Warriors added two more scores with a pair of running jaunts by Barry Jones and Jorge Garcia for 29 and 70 yards, respectively.

However, the stubborn Exeter offense would not go away quietly, answering each Tehachapi touchdown with one of their own. At halftime, the Warriors racked up 365 yards while Exeter had 281 yards of total offense.

The Warriors adjusted their scheme in the second period and registered three churning drives that ate up nearly 17 minutes of game clock. All three marches were capped with scores, one by Jones and two by Christian Terle.

Valencia ended as the top rusher on the evening with 186 yards, followed by Garcia with 113 yards, Terle with 83 yards and Jones with 52 yards on the ground.

Tyree White and Caleab Hutto also had carries towards the 444 yards rushing for Mountain Football.

On defense, Ty Curry, David Carter and Angel Garcia recorded sacks, Justin Baird and Jeremy Duff had fumble recoveries and Steven Cross recorded a game ending interception.

Scaggs also led special teams by going 7-8 on extra point attempts, while Duff had 290 yards recorded on kickoffs.

Up next for the Warriors is a contest against Burroughs at Ridgecrest this Friday evening. The game will start at 7 p.m.
