and Bob Locke, standing are Billy Melton and Richard Vasquez.

Warriors Finish 2nd In Sierra League --- Streak Ends
Elizondo Selected To All-Sierra League 1st Team

After winning the Sierra League three straight years, the streak finally ended as Tehachapi finished in 2nd place
losing a dramatic championship playoff game on the last night of the season to McFarland.

McFarland also snapped a Warrior 25 game winning streak in league play dating back to 1946 when the Cougars
knocked the Warriors out of first place on February 18, 1949 in McFarland.

In league play, the Warriors finished in a tie for first place with McFarland with a 7-1 record. The two teams split their two games
during the regular season, forcing the tense one game playoff at a neutral site in Shafter on March 2, 1949.
McFarland prevailed 32-19 completely shutting down the Warrior offense.

Overall, the Warriors were 11-6 for the season earning key non-league wins over Antelope Valley, East Bakersfield, and Lone Pine.
Tehachapi also had some very tough non-league competition losing to Wasco and the Bakersfield High Drillers.

Guard Tony Elizondo, the leading scorer for the 1949 Warriors, was the only Warrior selected to the All-Sierra League five
member 1st team. Forwards Locke and Parks, along with guard Vasquez, earned All-Sierra League 2nd team honors.
