Warriors Suffer First 20 Loss Season In School History
Betz Earns All-SYL 1st Team Honors & Team MVP
Despite having an experienced senior heavy team, the Mountain Basketball had one of the roughest seasons in school history,
finishing 8-20 for the season, and 1-9 in the rugged South Yosemite League. Bakersfield Christian won the SYL for the second consecutive year.
Optimism was high before the season started with nine seniors on the 13 man roster --- and coming off a 2018-19 season with a
respectable 13-11 season record, and a 5-5 log in SYL play.
But Tehachapi could never get untracked, losing 20 games during the season, and 10 straight during one stretch of the schedule.
Tehachapi went 5-9 in the pre-league season with great non-league wins over McFarland and Burroughs.
Tehachapi participated in three tournaments saving their best performance for the annual Kern County Shootout, going 2-2, with nail biting wins over Foothill and Ridgeview.
The Warriors finished 1-9 in the SYL, considered the best league in Kern County. The only win came against Ridgeview on the home floor.
In the first ever South Yosemite Conference Tournament, Tehachapi finished 2-2 with impressive wins over Highland and East Bakersfield.
Nathanael Betz was selected to the All-SYL 1st team; Zach King earned 2nd team honors; and Nathaniel Webb was Honorable Mention.
Betz was also selected as the Team MVP by the coaching staff.
