THS Basketball Names All-SEYL Players
Five Athletes Named Among The Best In Hoops

After earning a tri-championship in the Southeast Yosemite League and a trip to the CIF Central Section Division III quarterfinals this past season, five Warriors were named among the best players at season's end.

Tehachapi (20-8; 8-2 SEYL) tied East and Garces for the league crown, earning THS's first-ever Yosemite league title for any boys varsity team in any sport and marking the 22nd boys basketball title in school history.

Earning first team honors for Tehachapi was Isaiah Johnson, Jonny Saavedra and Micah Fjeld.

Taking second team honors was Dakota Medovitch, who finished third on the team with 185 points and the most rebounds on the team with 178. Earning honorable mention all-league was Chris Llamas, who finished with 152 points, 83 rebounds, 49 assists and 24 steals over the course of the season.


Below is a breakdown of all first team honorees for Tehachapi.

Micah Fjeld -- Senior

The talented forward was a force in the middle for Tehachapi this past season, closing with 168 rebounds and 162 points over the 28 game season. Fjeld played a big part in neutralizing the SEYL's big men and opening up the shooting lanes for teammates during the title run. Fjeld is a first time honoree to the All-SEYL team for basketball.


Isaiah Johnson -- Junior

Also selected as the league's most valuable player, the dynamite guard was lights out from long range, connecting on 81 three-pointers this past season. Johnson also was 78 percent at the free throw line, led the league in points per game (22.1) and led the team in points (618), blocks (20) and was among the leaders in steals (61) and assists (37). Johnson is a two-time first team All-SEYL selection.


Jonny Saavedra -- Sophomore

One of the top point guards in the central section had a brilliant second season for Tehachapi, finishing with a team-high 72 assists and 65 steals along with 259 points and 112 rebounds. For his efforts, Saavedra was also named as the SEYL rookie of the year. Saavedra is a first time honoree to the All-SEYL team for basketball.
