Starts Strong At Arvin

Mountain Basketball had an impressive start to the Arvin Holiday Showcase this past week, taking a pair of victories over Kennedy-Delano, 45-19, and East-Bakersfield, 51-16.

Tehachapi (8-3) went on an 11-0 second quarter run to pull away from Kennedy in the first round game. Dani Peacon led the way with 13 points, three steals and two assists and Alyssa Garcia had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Brandi Davidson also had an impressive all-around game against Kennedy with a team leading eight rebounds and two blocks and also contributing with three steals. Daisy Moran had four points and seven rebounds, Laney Ricker had seven points and Kelsey Vance had four rebounds for the Lady Warriors.

In the win over East, Garcia had 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists to lead the team. Brooke Boyd also had seven points and eight rebounds and Lexi Garrett had eight rebounds for THS.

Other contributors in the scoring column against East were Shelby Ricker with six points, Peacon and Moran with five points each, Davidson and Garrett with four points each, and Laney Ricker and Leja Jakstaite with a basket apiece.

Tehachapi also had a victory this past Saturday over previously undefeated Chavez-Delano to earn a spot in the semifinals this past Monday against Burroughs.

Results of the elimination bracket of the tournament, including the games against Chavez and Burroughs, will be featured in next week's Tehachapi News.

The Lady Warriors will be in action again on Tuesday, Jan. 7 against California City at home. Tip off will be at 6 p.m.
