It's high school playoff time! The 2012-13 regular season has come to an end and now both Warrior varsity basketball teams are advancing to the post-season
playoffs with dreams of reaching the championship game in Fresno at the Selland Arena the weekend of March 1-2.

Girl's Basketball Hosts San Joaquin Memorial Tuesday

Enjoying one of the most successful seasons in years, the #3 seeded Lady Warriors will host San Joaquin Memorial of Fresno Tuesday evening, February 19, at 7:00 pm.

SJM-Fresno, a private Catholic school, is seeded #14 in the Division III bracket which features 15 teams in the tournament. The Lady Warriors should not underestimate the Lady Panthers. While SJM is just 11-16 for the season, the Lady Panthers are members of the tough County/Metro League in the Fresno region. The County/Metro league was won by Edison-Fresno with a perfect 10-0 record, SJM finished at 5-5 in league play.

If the Lady Warriors defeat Memorial, Tehachapi will face the winner of #6 Shafter - #11 Delano game Thursday night in Tehachapi.

Selma is the #1 seeded team in the tournament, followed by #2 Hanford West, #3 Tehachapi, and #4 Cesar Chavez-Delano.

The Lady Warriors, 21-5 for the season, and 8-2 in SEYL play, have been led this season by Alyssa Garcia (11.4 ppg); Danielle Simpson (10.7 ppg); freshman Dani Peacon (8.5 ppg);
and senior rebounding machine Rheanna Cowee (315 rebounds). The school record for most wins in one season stands at "23" and the Lady Warriors could tie that record with a two game sweep in the playoffs this week.

SEYL champion Garces (10-0 in SEYL play) is seeded #2 in Division II behind #1 seed Ridgeview-Bakersfield.

Boys Basketball Hosts Mira Monte-Bakersfield Wednesday

Round One in the playoffs will find the #8 seeded Warriors hosting #9 Mira Monte of Bakersfield on Wednesday night, February 20. Game time is 7:00 pm.

The two schools met twice in the regular season, splitting the two games, which were both won by a difference of a couple of points. The third game figures to be another outstanding contest.

The winner of the Tehachapi-Mira Monte game will face the winner of the Independence-Central Valley Christian game Friday night on the home court of the lowest seeded team. Independence is the #1 seed in the sixteen team Division III bracket.
