Mountain Basketball Defeats The Scots

The Warriors moved their overall record back to .500 with a league win last week, sweeping the season series over Highland with a 59-47 victory.

Isaiah Johnson led the Warriors with 15 points, followed by Caeleb Roney with 10 points and Dakota Medovitch with nine points.

Tehachapi (12-12; 4-3 SEYL) also had strong games from Micah Fjeld with eight points, Jonny Saavedra with seven points and Ryan Flick with six points, while Dalton Scaggs and Nathan Hedberg combined for four points.

Mountain Basketball was scheduled to have an away game against North last Friday but the game was postponed to this Tuesday due to school closure for snow.

The Warriors will have three games in a row this week with a road game at North on Tuesday, a home game against Foothill on Wednesday and the league finale on Thursday at Garces. All games will start at 6:30 p.m.

The CIF Division III playoffs will begin next week.


Highland Falls To Lady Warriors

Mountain Basketball outscored Highland 12-2 in the second quarter to pull away for a 48-35 victory last Wednesday in Bakersfield.

Tehachapi (19-4; 6-1 SEYL) had a double-double 19 points and 14 rebounds from Danielle Simpson in the victory, while Rheanna Cowee dominated the boards with a team leading 18 rebounds.

Other leaders included Kelsey Vance with eight points and 11 rebounds and Alyssa Garcia with eight points and four rebounds. Simpson also had a game high four blocked shots and Cedar Parrott had three rebounds.

The Lady Warriors were scheduled to have a home game against North last Friday, but due to snow the game was postponed to this Tuesday. Tehachapi will also have an away game against Foothill this Wednesday and a home game against Garces this Thursday. All games will start at 6:30 p.m.
