Mountain Basketball Barely Loses
To SEYL Frontrunners

Even though both games ended up as loses, the Warriors made their presence known as one of the top teams in Kern County in a pair of games against Garces and East.

Tehachapi (11-12; 3-3 SEYL) lost to Garces 76-65 and East 65-58, holding halftime leads in both games before both SEYL foes surged for wins in the second half.

Mountain Basketball led 31-23 at halftime and 44-37 at the end of the third quarter against East before the Blades came back behind Division I 6 foot 8 prospect Fatai Eke, who finished with 22 points.

The Warriors had four players that scored in double figures against East, with Dalton Scaggs leading the team with 13 points and Jonny Saavedra, Ryan Flick and Isaiah Johnson each contributing with 10 points.

Against Garces, Johnson was on fire with a team leading 26 points, while Scaggs had 18 points.

Chris Llamas also had six points, Caeleb Roney and Flick had five points and Dakota Medovitch had four points against the Rams.

The Warriors will have another home game this Wednesday against Highland and go on the road against North on Friday.
