Mountain Basketball Continues To Roll
With Wins Over North & Foothill

The Warriors have been steadily improving as the season has progressed, evident in a pair of impressive league wins over North (62-53) and Foothill (60-37) this past week.

Tehachapi (11-10; 3-1 SEYL) jumped out to a 24-8 lead in the first quarter against Foothill, never looking back in the blowout victory.

Isaiah Johnson led the team with 14 points, followed by Jonny Saavedra with 11 points and Dalton Scaggs with eight points.

Other leaders included Andrew Baquerizo and Dakota Medovitch each with six points and Micah Fjeld, Chris Llamas and Andrew Borst with four points apiece.

Mountain Basketball will close out the first half of league play this Wednesday in a pivotal league game over Garces. The Rams are 2-2 in the SEYL, coming off a close 59-57 league loss against East last Friday.

The Warriors will also have a rematch with East at home this Friday evening in the THS gym.


Lady Warriors A Perfect 4-0 In SEYL Play

With the preliminary rounds complete, the Lady Warriors can now officially move to the main event in a basketball showdown against Garces this Wednesday.

Tehachapi (17-3; 4-0 SEYL) set the stage for a league title matchup with the Rams by defeating two SEYL teams this week, easily dispatching North 51-35 and Foothill 49-19.

Rheanna Cowee tied a season-high in rebounds in the win over North with 25, finishing with a double-double by adding 12 points.

Danielle Simpson led the team in scoring with 16 points, while Dani Peacon had a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with seven steals. Alyssa Garcia also had five points and four steals and Kelsey Vance had four points in the win.

Against Foothill, Simpson had 14 points and nine rebounds, followed by Peacon with 11 points, Cowee with eight points, and Trevino with six points. Briana Gutierrez also had a three-pointer in the contest, finishing with five points.

The game against Garces (19-2; 4-0 SEYL) will be this Wednesday. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. in Bakersfield.


Pack The Stands: Warriors Hosating Garces

Warriors Basketball is looking for strength in numbers with a big home crowd backing against Garces this week.

To ensure optimum attendance, Tehachapi High has announced that all fans wearing Warrior gear will get into this Wednesday’s Garces game at half-price.

Tehachapi will play league rival Garces this Wednesday night. The frosh, jayvee and varsity games will start at 4 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively.
