It's been a good start so far for Mountain Basketball in the East Yosemite League with a pair of victories over East 74-8 and Highland 62-26.

The Lady Warriors controlled the game against Highland from the opening tip, with three Lady Warriors scoring in double figures to secure the victory.

Rheanna Cowee was the high scorer with 14 points, followed by Dani Peacon with 11 points and Danielle Simpson with 10 points. Alyssa Garcia also had nine points and Briana Gutierrez seven points, with both ladies also recording three-pointers.

Against East, every Lady Warrior in uniform was able to score at least one basket in the victory. Garcia led the team with 12 points and Peacon and Kayla Trevino each had 10 points in the win.

Simpson and Cowee both combined for eight points, while Cowee led the team in rebounding with 15 recorded. Briana Gutierrez, Brooke Hurt, Cedar Parrott, Kelsey Vance, Lexi Garrett, Alexis Schoenberg and Simpson rounded out the scoring with a combined 28 points.

Trevino also had five steals and seven rebounds, while Peacon led the team with five assists.

Tehachapi (15-3; 2-0 SEYL) also had a win in their final pre-season game of the season earlier this month with a 47-36 victory over Yosemite, marking the first time that the Lady Warriors have beaten the perennial central section power Badgers.

Garcia led the team in scoring with 23 points, including four three pointers and seven rebounds. Simpson recorded a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Cowee had a team-high 15 rebounds in the win.

Up next Tehachapi will take on North on the road this Wednesday and host Foothill at home on Friday in the THS gym. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
