Dr. Humpert helped mentor hundreds of students, colleagues and friends during his long career in the education field. Jerry was active as a high school coach in Tehachapi, including one year as the men's varsity basketball coach during the 1971-72 basketball season.

Dr. Humpert left Tehachapi for a promotional opportunity at Cal State Bakersfield, and then went on to educational opportunities at two different community colleges in the San Diego area --- Grossmont and Cuyamaca.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Sherryl (Warner) Humpert; daughters Kari Parker and Marci Lecture; two grandchildren; mother Esther; and brothers Ron and Dale Humpert. Jerry Humpert met his wife Sherryl while working in Tehachapi.
