Freshman Dani Peacon, juniors Madison Frey and Alyssa Garcia were named to the all-tournament team at the 16 team Arvin Tournament held this past week.
Peacon as named the MVP of the tournament. The Lady Warriors are now 11-3 for the season as they head into the Holiday break.

Lady Warriors Whip Delano In The Finals, 50-31

Under second year coach Renn Amstead, the Lady Warriors are off to a roaring start for the 2012-13 basketball season, capturing the annual Arvin Invitational Basketball Tournament this past weekend (Dec. 12-15). Sixteen teams participated in the tournament.

The Warriors won five straight games in the tournament to take the title, defeating Delano in the finals, 51-30, and improving their season record to 11-3 heading into the Holiday break.

Capturing the MVP of the tournament was Tehachapi freshman Dani Peacon; she was joined on the all-tourney team by juniors Madison Frey and Alyssa Garcia.

The Lady Warriors opened up the tournament with a 36-18 win over Wasco. Frey led the Warriors with 11 points. Rheanna Cowee had 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

In game two against West Bakersfield, Danielle Simpson led Tehachapi with 13 points as the Warriors nipped the Vikings, 39-33. The Warriors led 30-12 after three quarters, and held off a furious fourth quarter comeback attempt by West. Cowee again led the Warriors with 14 rebounds.

In game three, Tehachapi tangled with the hometown Lady Bears. The Warriors crushed the Bears, 55-34. Garcia led all scorers with 12; Frey and Simpson chipped in with 11, and Cowee added 10 points. Cowee also had 17 rebounds.

In the semi-finals, the Warriors outlasted Hoover from Fresno, 43-30. Simpson had 12, Garcia 11, and Peacon 8, and Cowee pounded the boards for 12 grabs.

In the finale with Delano, Peacon had her best game of the season pouring in 16 points to lead a 50-31 victory over the Lady Tigers. The fiesty Garcia also had 10 points, 8 steals, and 7 assists. Cowee added 10 points and remained strong on the boards with 21 rebounds.

The Lady Warriors are on Holiday break until they play a non-league enounter with Golden Valley-Bakersfield in Tehachapi on January 8, 2013.
