Lady Warriors Named To All-League Team

Tehachapi had a strong year under new head coach Renn Amstead, going 18-7 on the season and a second place finish in the SSL standings.

The effort of Mountain Basketball was rewarded in individual accolades, with seven Lady Warriors making the first, second and honorable mention teams.

Paige Bennett, Meagan Kilchrist, AJ Snider and Alyssa Garcia were named to the first team, while Danielle Simpson was a second team selection and Rheanna Cowee and Sarah Breen made the honorable mention squad.

Simpson is a two-time all-league selection, finishing this season with 96 points and a standout 123 rebounds. Cowee had 90 points and 130 rebounds this past year, while Breen scored 100 points, 28 steals and 25 assists.

Below is a breakdown of all of the first team selections for Tehachapi.


Paige Bennett -- Senior

A three-time All-League first team selection, Bennett finished her senior season with a team leading 343 points, 172 rebounds, 125 steals and 115 assists. For her high school career, Bennett finished with 761 points, 382 rebounds, 240 steals and 230 assists, marking one of the greatest three year stints in school history.


Meagan Kilchrist -- Senior

The talented guard finished her senior year third on the team in scoring with 157 points and second on the team in assists and steals, while also registering 63 total rebounds in 25 games. Kilchrist is a first time selectee to the All-SSL first team.


AJ Snider -- Senior

Playing at center for the Lady Warriors, Snider led the scorers in the paint with 130 points and was the team leader in blocked shots with 38. The first team all-league selection was also second on the team in rebounds with 153 recorded on the year.


Alyssa Garcia - Sophomore

The long range shooter led the team in three-point field goals on the year with 32, finishing second on the team in points with 226 recorded. Garcia was also a talented defender, leading the team with 96 deflections while also recording 53 steals. Garcia was selected to all-league in the newcomer of the year category.
