Warriors Win SSL In Final Season
Playoffs Next For Tehachapi

The Warriors of head coach Chris Olofson closed the books on their final season in the South Sequoia League (SSL) by defeating the Taft Wildcats on Valentines Day, 77-61, earning their 6th SSL crown since joining the league in 1992-93.

Tehachapi will join the Southeast Yosemite League beginning next school year.

Boys Basketball Splits Pair Of Games

Before a delighted hometown crowd on the mountain, the Warriors improved to 9-0 for the season with an impressive 77-61 win over the Wildcats. For coach Chris Olofson, it was his fourth title in his eight year run as the leader of the Warrior basketball program.

Tehachapi was led by Cory Lange with 38 points (11-15 from the free throw line), 12 rebounds, and 4 steals. Other double digit scorers included Luke Henderson 13, Justin Hedberg 11, and Darren Smith 10.

In the season finale on Thursday, February 16, the Warriors lost a lopsided 75-51 game to Bakersfield Christian. The loss gave Tehachapi a final 9-1 record in SSL play. Bakersfield Christian finished in 3rd place in the SSL at 7-3 (11-14), while upstart Shafter closed the books on league play in 2nd place at 8-2.

The Warriors were again led by Lange with 25 points while Smith chipped in with 9, Harris 5, Henderson 4, and Hedberg 4. Tehachapi now waits for the CIF Division III basketball brackets to be released from the CIF administrative offices in Porterville this weekend. Follow the link below for the playoff bracketing:

Girl's Basketball Closes Season With Two Wins

The Lady Warriors concluded their regular season schedule with wins over Taft on February 14 and Bakersfield Christian on February 16. The Lady Warriors of first year head coach Renn Amstead finished at 8-2 in league play, earning a solid 2nd place behind undefeated Shafter.

On Valentines Day, the Lady Warriors held on to defeat the Lady Cats', 46-42. Alyssa Garcia led Tehachapi with 14 points and 8 steals. Paige Bennett added 11 points while Meagan Kilchrist scored 10. Danielle Simpson pulled down 13 boards and AJ snider collected 10 rebounds.

In the final SSL game with Bakersfield Christian, Tehachapi routed the Golden Eagles, 69-31. Bennett scored 25 and Garcia had 16. Rheanna Cowee led the Warriors with 10 rebounds.

The Lady Warriors, 18-6 for the season, now wait for the CIF Division III basketball brackets to be released from the CIF administrative offices in Porterville this weekend. Follow the link below for the playoff bracketing:
