The Tehachapi Warriors improved to 5-0 in SSL play with two more wins this past week defeating both Taft and Bakersfield Christian.

Senior guard Cory Lange had one of the most prolific back-to-back games in Warrior history scoring 45 points against Taft and topping that with a 48 point performance against Bakersfield Christian.

Against Taft (Jan. 24), Tehachapi outlasted the Wildcats 76-63. Lange led the Warriors with 45 points including four 3 point shots and a 11-13 night from the free throw line. Other Warrior scorers included Darren Smith 11, Justin Hedberg 9, Ryan Harris 6, Luke Henderson 4, and Gabe Saavedra with 1.

The 45 point performance vaulted Lange ahead of Jerad Romo as the #2 all-time single-game scorer in Warrior History. Romo hit for 44 points during the 2000-01 season against Highland-Bakersfield.

On Friday night (Jan. 27) in Tehachapi, Warrior fans witnessed Lange score an amazing 48 points to lead Tehachapi past Bakersfield Christian, 98-84, in a classic shoot-out. Tyler Harris also burned the nets in a 41 point effort for Bakersfield Christian.

Lange tied the single-game scoring record set by John Capdeville nearly 50 years ago. Capdeville scored 48 points against Rim of the World-Lake Arrowhead on Dec. 27, 1963 in a contest won by Tehachapi at the Desert High Invitational Tournament.

Lange's landmark game included seven 3 point shots and a 13-17 record from the charity stripe. Lange also led the team with 7 assists and 6 steals.

Other double digit scorers for Tehachapi included Smith 15, Hedberg 14, and Beardsley 11.

Bakersfield Christian fell to 3-2 in SSL play; 7-13 overall.

Tehachapi is now 13-7 overall for the season and the only undefeated team in SSL play. Shafter is currently in second place in the SSL at 4-1. The Warriors continue SSL play this week with a game at home against Wasco on Feb. 3 and a road game in Arvin on Feb. 7.
