Arvin & Shafter On Tap This Week
The new year began with a swish for mountain basketball as both the men and women varsity cagers swept West High of Bakersfield and Wasco this past week.
On Tuesday, January 10, the Warriors nipped West Bakersfield, 59-55, in a non-league tiff. Cory Lange led the Warriors with 26 points while Justin Hedberg added 11. Other scorers included Smith 6, Henderson 4, Saavedra 4, Harris 2, and Beardsley 2.
On Friday night, January 13, the Warriors opened SSL play with a convincing 65-35 win over Wasco. Lange once again led Tehachapi with 18 points while Hedberg chipped in with 10 points. Otehr scorers included Scaggs 4, Hall 6, Harris 3, Henderson 4, Baquerizo 2, Beardsley 7, Carroll 2, Smith 6, and Perez 1.
Tehachapi is now 9-7 overall for the season and 1-0 in SSL play. The Warriors continue SSL play this week with home games against Arvin on Jan. 17 and Shafter on Jan. 20.
Lady Warriors Improve To 11-4 Overall
The Lady Warriors also had a great week sweeping West 63-34 and Wasco, 44-21, with both games on the mountain. Tehachapi now has an impressive 11-4 season record and a 1-0 record in SSL play.
Against West Bakersfield, Tehachapi was led by A.J. Snider with 12 points. Other scorers included Garcia 3, Schoenberg 2, Gutierrez 2, Kilchrist 6, Poulson 2, Bennett 8, Breen 8, Simpson 10, Cowee 10.
In the game against Wasco, Paige Bennett led all scorers with 11 points. Other scorers included Garcia 5, Snider 9, Ashcraft 2, Cass 2, Kilchrist 4, Breen 4, and Simpson 7.
The Lady Warriors hit the road this week with games in Arvin on Jan. 17 and Shafter on Jan. 20.
