Warriors Win Consolation Title
At Lloyd Williams Bakersfield Tournament

The Tehachapi Warriors captured the consolation championship of the annual Lloyd Williams Kern County Basketball Tournament by defeating South Bakersfield in the title game, 60 to 45, on Saturday, December 10. The Warriors were 3-1 in the tournament, improving their overall season record to 4-6.

Cory Lange, an all-league selection from a year ago, is making a difference for the Warriors, after joining the team late due to the prolonged football season. Lange was outstanding in all four tournament games, earning a spot on the prestigous all-tournament team. Lange scored a total of 99 points in the tournament, averaging nearly 25 points per game.

In the opening game of the tournament, the Warriors lost a 78-76 heartbreaker to Frontier-Bakersfield. Lange poured in 35 points; Luke Henderson scored 14; and Justin Hedberg ripped the nets for 11.

Tehachapi rebounded in game two by topping Golden Valley-Bakersfield, 59-43. Lange led the Warriors with 19 points.

The Warriors made it two wins in a row by nipping West Bakersfield, 56-51, setting up the consolation championship game with South. Lange again led Tehachapi with 19 points.

Against South, Lange scored 24 and Hedberg 11, leading Tehachapi to an easy 60-45 consolation bracket win.

Earlier in the week on December 5, Tehachapi hosted Burroughs and lost a tough overtime game, 85-78. Lange scored 22, Ryan Harris netted 20, and Darren Smith was good for 16.
