The Warriors started off their year in a pre-season game against Paraclete, losing a 66-57 decision at home last Monday.

Anthony Ehrlich led the team with 12 points, followed by Zach Poulson and Ryan Harris each with eight points and Justin Hedberg and Darren Smith with seven points apiece.

Hedberg was joined by Dee White as leaders in rebounds with six, while Harris and Luke Henderson each had two steals and Gabe Saavedra two assists.

Saavedra also had six points, while Smith had five rebounds.

The Warriors did outscore the Spirits in the second and fourth quarters by 19-13 and 14-13 counts, respectively, but could not overcome a 21-9 first quarter by game's end.

"It's been a rough start so far but we'll find ways to improve and get better," said head coach Chris Olofson. "We've seen some good things so far and we'll continue to improve and find the right chemistry."

Later on in the week, Tehachapi (1-4) participated in the Roadrunner Classic in Rosamond, losing contests to Quartz Hill 90-60, Paraclete 63-52 and Burroughs 66-57 and winning a game against Antelope Valley Christian by forfeit.

Joining Mountain Basketball from the football team starting this week will by Cory Lange, Cody Hall, Dalton Scaggs and Robert Natividad, with potentially more coming in for a tryout.

"We had Lange in practice (after football concluded) and it was good to get him back," added Olofson. "His presence makes everyone around him better."
