Both Warriors and Lady Warriors Sweep Wasco

Mountain Basketball completed a sweep over the Tigers last Friday night, with the varsity recording a 60-40 win while the junior varsity and freshmen teams winning 31-27 and 24-21, respectively.

Cory Lange led Tehachapi (10-12; 4-2 SSL) with 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Levi Garrett and Justin Hedberg each had 12 points.

Other leaders included Kash Knudson and Nick Phillips with seven points, while Dallas Scaggs had six points and Michael Minjares had two points. Phillips also chipped in with six assists.

The Lady Warriors are running on all cylinders in basketball and will be gunning for their opportunity to get back into the SSL championship race this week at Shafter.

The chance at the crown comes after a big win this past week against Wasco, where the Lady Warriors recorded a convincing 59-15 win.

Paige Bennett led the scoring with 12 points, while also recording seven steals and six assists. Amanda Viselli and Rachel Duff each had 11 points to add to the blowout win, with Viselli also contributing with three steals and two assists and Duff three rebounds.

Other scorers included Bre Farinas with six points, Meghan Kilchrist and Danielle Simpson with four points apiece, Erica Lange with three points, and AJ Snider and Rheanna Cowee each with a basket.

As a team, Tehachapi (12-10; 5-1 SSL) recorded 33 total rebounds, 23 steals and 20 assists.

Mountain Basketball will have their league title showdown at Shafter (17-6; 6-0 SSL) this Friday night.
