Mountain Basketball Captures SSL Crown

Mountain Basketball captured the 2010 South Sequoia League crown Friday night (February 19) by defeating Arvin, 75 to 41, to finish 9-1 in league play. The Warriors finished two games ahead of defending two-time league champion Bakersfield Christian (7-3).

Tehachapi, under 6th year coach Chris Olofson, finished the season with an overall record of 20 wins and 7 losses. For the Warrior basketball program, it was their fifth league title since joining the SSL in 1992-93.

At Arvin, playing their third game of the week, the Warriors led throughout the contest behind a balanced scoring attack that saw 15 different players get into the scoring column. Pacing the Warriors in the 75 to 41 win were Corey Torres with 16 points and Jordan Beardsley with 10.

On Wednesday, February 17, Tehachapi dropped their first league game of the season to league rival Bakersfield Christian, 72-64. Hitting for double figures for the Warriors were Robert Siegmund with 20, Doug Patience 13, Christian Torres 11, and Corry Lange 10.

On Tuesday, February 16, the Warriors traveled to Taft to defeat the Wildcats 87-80. Lange led all scorers with 25, Patience netted 22, Siegmund powered in 13, and Beardsley scored 11.
