Mountain Basketball cruised to their most decisive win on the year last week, taking a 93-59 win over Arvin and a thrilling 61-59 over Taft to take a foothold near the midway point of the South Sequoia League title race.

Tehachapi (14-6; 3-0 SSL) can take a two game advantage in the league standings with a win over Bakersfield Christian this Tuesday.

"There is some strong competition this season in league, but we still have a big one (against BCHS)," said head coach Chris Olofson. "Winning big is great for morale. We're happy with how our guys responded this week, but we still have seven games to go and anything can happen."

Robert Siegmund was the hero at Taft against the Wildcats, who willed his way to connect on a buzzer-beating shot in the lane as the fourth quarter shot expired.

"That was a big play, it was just all determination on Robert to get that ball in," added Olofson. "He had a lot of bodies on him going up for that shot and he wasn't going to be denied."

Siegmund finished the Taft contest with seven points, while Cory Lange was the high-scorer with 22 points. Other contributors included Christian Torres with 10 points, Corey Torres and Jordan Beardsley with three points, and Travis Farewell and Levi Garrett with two points each.

This past Friday, the Warriors put on an offensive clinic against Arvin, running away to 93 points scored and 15 mountain basketball players reaching the score column.

Corey Torres was the high scorer with 17, followed by Jordan Beardsley (15), Cory Lange (9), Christian Torres (8), Levi Garrett (7), Matt Santos (6), Dallas Scaggs (6), Nick Phillips (6), Jake Wesley (4), Robert Siegmund (4), Dougan Patience (3), and Nick Buttcane, Conrad Mattly, Travis Farewell and Kash Knudson each with a basket.
