Both Warrior varsity teams will now enter the Central Section San Joaquin Valley playoffs as the regular season concluded last week.

The varsity boys will play host to a very tough Foothill High Trojan team from Bakersfield on Wednesday night, February 25, in Tehachapi. Game time is 7:00 pm.

The Warriors closed out the regular season last Friday with a 60-42 thumping of Arvin. The Warriors finish in second place, at 7-3 in league play, behind league champion Bakersfield Christian (10-0).

Foothill is a member of the highly competitive Southeast Yosemite League along with Liberty (11-1; 24-3), Garces (10-2; 19-7), East High (8-4;14-11), Bakersfield High (6-6; 12-10), and others. The Trojans come to Tehachapi with a 4-8 league; and 11-16 overall season record.

The Warriors have been led this season by top scorers Bert Hall (12.1 ppg) and JJ Balkar (10.5 ppg). Hall is also the top team rebounder with an average of 10.5 rebounds per game.

If the Warriors can defeat Foothill, they will advance in the Division III bracket to face the #3 Hanford West - #14 Roosevelt (Fresno) winner on Friday night, February 27.

In Division IV play, SSL champion #1 seed Bakersfield Christian will play #16 seed McFarland.

Lady Warriors:

The Lady Warriors finished out league play with an upset of Arvin, 62-58, in overtime, to finish in second place in the SSL at 7-3; 12-9 overall. Arvin and Bakersfield Christian won the SSL with identical 8-2 records.

Until this year, the Lady Warriors had won the SSL five consecutive years.

The Lady Warriors will now enter the valley playoffs in Division III as a #11 seed traveling to #6 seed Ridgeview of Bakersfield in the opening round. Ridgeview, a member of the Southwest Yosemite League, finished the season at 7-5 in league play; 14-12 overall. Game time is 7:00 pm Tuesday night, February 24.

The Warriors faced Ridgeview during the Holiday break at the annual Garces Tournament, dropping a 68-47 decision. If the Warriors can knock off Ridgeview, they will face the winner of the Hanford West - McLane (Fresno) game on Thursday night.

The Lady Warriors have been paced this season by the scoring of Ashley Osoau and the rebounding of Persephone Devereaux.
