Lady Warriors Continue To Fight
For SSL Playoff Berth

Using a combination of inside muscle and fast break capability, Arvin overtook Tehachapi last Friday in an SSL showdown by a 57-40 count.

With a logjam created at the SSL top spot, the wide-open title race now puts Tehachapi (8-8; 3-2 SSL) a game back in the overall standings, but still very much alive in the championship race.

Ashley Asoau led the team with 14 points in the losing effort to the Bears, while Persephonie Devereaux had eight points, nine rebounds and Michelle Durr 11 points and three rebounds.

Lisa Gaeta and Alyssa Cowee both had five rebounds, while Devereaux, Asoau and Cowee all had two blocks each.

In the win over Taft, the Lady Warriors were led by Michelle Durr with nine points, followed by Peresphonie Devereaux with seven points, and Michelle Baxter with four points.


Junior Varsity:

The Lady Braves continued their intensity through another week of their league schedule, with the latest two victories coming by way of Taft (48-25) and Arvin (56-11).

In both games combined, Paige Bennett led the week with 28 points, four steals, eight rebounds and a blocked shot, while Jasmine Julye had 15 points, six steals, 14 rebounds and a block.

The Taft game also highlighted Mackenzie Eberle with eight points, four steals, three rebounds and a block, while Bre Farinas had six points, three rebounds and two steals. Erica Lange also had an impressive game at center with two points, four rebounds and four steals.

The contest over Arvin featured balanced contributions from a variety of Lady Braves, with Ashley Carter getting three points, five rebounds and a block, Mackenzie Eberle with 10 steals and Bre Farinas with seven steals.

At the halfway mark, Tehachapi (10-1; 5-0 SSL) is in first place atop the league standings.
