In an SSL showdown with Bakersfield Christian, the Warriors fell by a close 59-57 score, but quickly rebounded with a 66-51 thrashing over Shafter last Friday.

Bert Hall led the way against BCHS with 12 points and nine rebounds, while JJ Balkar had 10 points and Justin Hansen eight points and three boards.

Matt Bloom had six rebounds and two steals, Derek Lange eight points, four rebounds, three assists and a block to highlight other strong performances.

“The BCHS game was a tough one to take, but there is still a lot of basketball left to be played this year,” said head coach Chris Olofson. “We’re getting better and it was a good, balanced effort against Shafter.”

Four Warriors registered in the double-digits in scoring against the Generals, with JJ Balkar and Bert Hall registering 14 apiece, while Justin Hansen and Kurtis Knudson had 10 points each.

Hall had a good night at the free throw line, scoring 8-12 from the line for Tehachapi (10-7; 2-1 SSL).

The Braves moved their record to 10-2 (3-0 SSL) with a pair of victories over Bakersfield Christian (53-47) and Shafter (59-30).

Leading the way against the Eagles was Cory Lange with a big 24-point night, while Dallas Scaggs had nine and Travis Farewell nine and seven points, respectively.

Tehachapi closed the week with an 18-0 run in the third quarter to easily takedown Shafter. Levi Garrett finished with 14 points, while Cory Lange had 10 points and Travis Farewell eight points in the winning output.

A pair of close losses to Shafter (32-31) and Bakersfield Christian (57-49 OT) left the Indians with a bad taste in their mouths, but the individual efforts show promise of a big comeback for Tehachapi in the second half of league play.

Robert Natividad and Cody Brown both combined for 10 points in the overtime loss to Bakersfield Christian, while Alec Johnson had eight points and Ross Feeley and Cody Hall four assists apiece.

Ryan Harris had 11 points and Luke Henderson six points, while Robert Natividad had eight rebounds and Alex Khoury six rebounds in the loss to Shafter.
