Title IX Brings Lady Warrior Basketball
To Tehachapi High In 1976

Title IX legislation led the way to the first Lady Warrior varsity basketball team in 1975-76.
Playing a late basketball schedule (February-March), and struggling to find gym time,
the Lady Warriors played a short eight game schedule.

The Lady Warriors finished the initial season with a respectable 4-4 league record; playing in the
South Division of the DIL. The league was won by the Lady Runners' of Rosamond.

The first team was coached by Joan Pogon. There was no junior varsity team in 1975-76.
