Lady Warriors Back-To-Back SYL Champions
Thurman Named SYL MVP

Under second year coach Jimi Perkins, the 2019-20 Lady Warriors captured a South Yosemite League championship.
The Warriors were a perfect 10-0 in league play to win back-to-back league titles.

A few noteworthy team records were also accomplished --- including a winning streak of 13 straight games --- tieing the school record along with the 2003-04 team.
The Lady Warriors also scored 82 points in a game against Mira Monte, the second best single game total in school history (85 points is the record).

Throughout the season, Tehachapi was led by their dynamic center Teagan Thurman, a four-year starter, who was named the league MVP.
Thurman led the team in both scoring and reounds, averaging 22 points, and 12 rebounds, per game. Aleiyah Bryant was also a first team
All-SYL selection while Emily Williams and Sara Heier were selected to the second team. The Lady Warriors suffered a big blow in
late January when veteran player Irey Sandholdt when down with a season ending injury.

The Lady Warriors were 5-1 in pre-league play; 10-0 in SYL play; and 3-1 in the first ever South Yosemite Conference Tournament.
In the tournament, the Warriors only loss was to a highly touted Bakersfield Driller team --- the two-time defending DII central section champions.

The Warriors entered the post-season as the number two seed in the Central Section DII CIF playoffs. Before a capacity crowd on the hometown floor,
visiting Mission Prep (San Luis Obispo) upset the Warriors in overtime 55-52.

Thurman will continue her basketball career at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampo, Idaho, next season. She leaves Tehachapi High School as the all-time
leading scorer in girls basketball history.

“I was extremely blessed to have coached this group of young ladies,” said head coach Jimi Perkins. “I started coaching these girls
because they needed a coach. I’ve learned that God put me in this position because I needed them.”
