TEHACHAPI -- Julian Salinas scored on a 53-yard run in the third quarter to lead Arvin past Tehachapi 7-6 Friday in a South Sequoia League game.

Tehachapi (3-4, 0-2 SSL) threatened in the fourth quarter when Stefan Bekker scored on a 9-yard run with 5:09 left. Shawn Pimentel caught a two-point conversion pass, but it was nullified by an illegal-man-downfield penalty, so the Warriors then tried a kick to tie, but missed.

Arvin (4-3, 1-1 SSL) stopped Tehachapi's final drive on a fourth-and-14 situation at the Warriors' 36-yard line. The Bears then ran out the clock.

Warrior Garrett Coontz dives to catch a pass that was just out of reach. Coontz later caught a 36-yard pass but the Warriors fell victim to a costly penalty during a two-point PAT attempt and fell to Arvin, 7-6. Photo by Michael Duffy
