At CalvaryDawn is a different comic for me for two reasons. First it’s painted, which is a big bonus, as I love the painted comics much more than the drawn ones. Second, it’s based in the idea of heaven and hell - Jesus and Lucifer - but unfortunately, it’s not biblical. Face It’s more Greek in that Dawn herself is the goddess of birth and rebirth. Her powers are unlimited and can travel to heaven and hell and all points in between. She tends to get involved with the lives of both mortals and immortals alike. Dawn often acts as either a catalyst in human affairs, or an impartial observer or messenger in the affairs of heaven and hell. Her only real story arc (due to it being a painted comic, each issue takes a while) had her going to hell to retrieve Lucifer’s halo at the request of God. Winged Robe As a story, I really enjoy it, though I can’t glean too much truth from it, other than the truth expressed from a human perspective in written and artistic form - something I do not take for granted. Before I became a Christian, I always hated the fact that religions had their truth and everything else was no good. I suppose I am thankful for how my life has enfolded, for it allows me now to love others despite their differing beliefs. ArmorDoes that mean that they are correct too? That’s not what I mean. God hasn’t come to my friends who aren’t Christians like He came to me. He may reveal Himself to them; He may not. He has revealed Himself in the heavens but that does not mean everyone take the time to search for the truth. I will not stop to encourage them to question things and study things that have to do with spirituality, but I try not to condemn them for things I can’t reveal to them. God’s will is not something I pretend to know. I trust Him, for He is worthy of that, and that is what I know. In Dawn, I find a story that is entertaining and beautifully painted, written from a point of view that allows me to expand views so as not to confine myself into blindness, though I must stress that this story is not biblically based by any means. My foundation is strong enough in Him that I can do this with confidence.
