Battle Mode
Big Donut:
This is a
simple track. Only a circular arena with four towers (you can't
get on them) and a big lava pit in the middle. For the
inexperienced drivers this lava pit can be more dangerous than
the other racers. I suggest those people stay further up on the
donut, but don't get to attached to the wall it gives away clues
as to where you are to the other players. That's another thing
always keep an eye on the other player's screen(s). Watch for
sneak attacks or find out where they might have laid bananas or
fake items.(this is good for all arenas and even when your
racing)
Use the towers to your advantage, if you know someone just fired
a red turtle shell at you try to get around a corner to block it.
When you have red turtle shells try to fire them in the clear,
but if you have three of them don't just let all hell loose, fire
the first one, wait till it's about ready to hit your foethen
fire the second one and if needed fire the last one as he's in
the air formthe second turtle shell. Be aware of stray green
turtle shells, they can be the difference between winning and
loosing, but also use them to your advantage.
Another trick that doesn't work as well but can come in handy is
laying bananas and fake items against the wall of the towers on
their back sides. That way if somebody gets caught in the wall
they could loose a balloon, just make sure you don't get caught
your self. Probably one of the funniest, hardest(and cruelest)
tricks to do is this; if you have a heavy weight, Wario, Donkey
Kong, or Bowser, you can try bumping the other players into the
lava. Just be careful!
Block Fort:

This is another one where you can track your opponent very
easily, watch the color tower they're on or by. At the start you
are all lined up facing each other if you go strait and you're a
big boy you'll make the other players loose a balloon. If you are
a small guy or one of the two plumbers and you get a turbo start
you knock some heads except for the heavy weights, they'll always
win. Who ever said there aren't advantages to being big? It gets
cramped in the corridors so it is harder to use red turtle shells
on the lower levels, but they work great on top of the towers. To
avoid getting hit by RTS try going around a corner and cut it
hard. Be aware of stray green turtle shells in this one even more
so than in Big Donut.
Probably the best thing to do is to keep moving in this one. If
you stay in a signal spot to long somebody will find you and
then, BAM!!! When you're on top of a tower and you have a RTS, or
a set of three, wait till somebody gets below you, preferably in
the corner, fire your shell(s) using the same strategy as
mentioned in the Big Donut section. This will also work if you're
on a bridge and somebody's below you. For those people that like
to give their friends a challenge rather than just killing them
you can take three GTS and launch them when somebody gets in the
corner or on that back side.
A good place to lay tricks is on the bridges. This discourages
other players from using the tactics listed in the previous
paragraph. If you lay tricks on the bottom level they're bound to
be taken out by stray shells. Other good spots are the ramps
leading to the top level, anywhere on the second level, or if
somebody is tailgating you.
Double Decker:

Don't be confused by the name, the arena is bad enough, it's
actually a five story arena. You start on the third level in the
same line up as you did in block fort so becareful if you're not
a heavy weight. Never Stay on the second or third level to long
these floors are subject to heavy fire from RTS on the top level.
Most people like to stay on top, this can be good if you get red
turtle shells but there aint enough room for both of you, so if
you have a heavy weight try pushing them off. If you prefer the
bantam weights or the plumbers stay on the bottom level until you
get something good, than head to the top to take on the big boys.
When your being chased down by some one with a star on the top
level head for a corner of the outside edge. Get on the inside
and when you head past the ramp angle towards the corner. Then
hop and pull hard towards the inside, if you go over the edge
that is if not just head of the the edge and try to elude the
other player as best possible. You should land on the second
level, then just head up the ramps right to the top or go down to
the bottom.
This is a real neat trick but relies heavily on timing. If
somebody thinks they're safe from RTS arial attacks by staying on
the bottom floor all the time, think again. Take an RTS, go to
the top level and be facing the edge while your lined up with the
top ramp, watch the radar map to find out where he/she is; now
this is where the timing comes in, when the person is almost
directly below you fire your shell, it should go over the edge
and down the ramp. If the person is heading for the other side
fire it a few seconds after he turns the corner to the opposite
side, this is a fun one to watch because you see the shell going
towards the target and the other person never sees it coming.
Sky Scraper:

Just having fun at the office in this one. That is unless you
fall the whole hundred stories.(correct me if I'm wrong) This one
is worse than Big Donut, even for more experienced players. It
has a hole in the middle, a gap between the main floor and the
outer edge, plus there is no out side wall.
Basic strategy: don't fall. There is not much else except for
that.
Don't worry about the middle gap to much if you have enough speed
you can ride right over it. The same goes for the gap, except you
need more speed. Use these gaps and the hole to your advantage,
if some body fires an RTS try to jump a gap or the hole because
the RTS will drop into the gap, or hole. Don't worry about stray
GTS because they fall off some where.
