Johannes Segers

Born on 30 October 1961 in Eindhoven, became goalkeeper at PSV Eindhoven. Was transfered to Nottingham Forest in 1984. Was loaned to Stoke City in 1987 (season 1986-87) and later to Sheffield United (season 1987-88). He was a goalie in Scotland at Dunfirmline Athletic (loaned in march 1988). Wimbledon became his club in 1988 till 1996 when Wolves got him for free…..

The 1998-99 season he was goalkeeper at Spurs. This goalkeeper's off-the-field problems have been well publicised, and having been on Wolves' staff during 1996-97 he finally got his chance in March 1998, when Mike Stowell was ill. The agility of the Dutchman made up for his lack of height and he kept his place for the FA Cup quarter final, making a penalty save in the closing minutes to ensure the club went through. Showed his quality when stopping another penalty the following week against Crewe.

Was also involved in a gambling scandal…..
