The New Zealand Connection

JOHN JAMES PRITCHARD CATHERINE PRITCHARD

Born December 31 1846 at Linton, Hereford, was only a baby on the voyage from England.

Not a lot was known about Kate Pritchard until recently but information has come in very quickly over the last two months.

Catherine married James Le Bas, an interpreter in Napier and they had two sons, William Patrick and John Albert. James Le Bas died suddenly in Napier and Catherine remarried. Her second husband was Henry Joseph Rogers and they had a large family, possibly nine children. The names we have to date are Charles, Alf, Henry, Ivy (Mrs Nightingale), Dulcie (Mrs Cook), Emily (Mrs Golding), Mary (Mrs Wenigar), Blanche, and Adelaide Ruth who died aged 6 months.

Of the Le Bas sons, we know that:

A definite date of death has not been found for Catherine but it is possibly in about 1934.
