Seal Point

Produced by the Otago University Dive Club

Access: Located at the southwesterly end of Sandfly Bay. When the road ends, a reported 2km walk awaits you!

Weather / Sea conditions: This part of the coast is very exposed to the south, southeast and southwest. It should not be attempted with any sort of southerly swell running. [Note: When coming from town, check White Island from the hills on the drive out. If you can see any sign of breaking water at the island, forget diving at Cape Saunders. It will be too rough to make an entry (or to get out in one piece)]. This area tends to be better protected from Northerly weather.

Visibility: 6 - 15 metres

Description: Rocks with bull kelp forests and a healthy fish population

Depth: 6 - 12 metres
